Wild About Gardens wins Landscape Design award

Firepit in use

The WALDA Landscape Design awards were held recently at Matilda Bay restaurant and the Gidgegannup Project was awarded Winner of the Residential Design 250-400m2 category.

The brief for the design was to create two outdoor living areas, which would link the home with its surrounds and enable the owners to enjoy the space more effectively.

The clients loved the house but didn’t feel they were making the most of outdoor entertaining and the building looked as if it was perched on the bush block rather than part of it.

In addition the views to the lake were not maximised by the orientation of the home.

The front garden now gives a lovely welcoming feel to the property and a place to sit out and enjoy the surrounding nature. The area looking towards the lake was previously a bare gravelly slope and is now a space where the owners love to spend time and can entertain family and friends. A blend of natural and modern materials and elements create an effective link between the contemporary home and the bush.

I was thrilled to be recognised for this unique project. It is a very special garden because of the location with its beautiful bush and lake views. The clients were also wonderful people to work with. They have recently sold the property and I look forward to working with them again on their new garden.
