Large Australian native garden

The owners of this property requested a large rambling native garden with meandering paths and bird attracting plants. Obviously with a garden this size water is an issue, so most of the plants selected for this project are drought tolerant.

A mix of foliage textures and colours were used in the planting palette as well as many spectacular WA wildflowers so that there is interest throughout the year.

Closer to the house, some deciduous trees are used to provide climate control and because they are slightly less flammable. Bushfires are always a risk in these heavily treed areas adjacent to national parks.

The property sold recently and the new owners undertake rescue work and care for wildlife and farm animals. They have found the native plants, particularly the nectar laden grevilleas and bottlebrush, to be very useful for feed for their little menagerie.
